Vintage 1999 WONKA Chicago Rave Flyer Ephemera – Digital Underground, Honey Dijon + More

An original piece of late-1990s rave culture! This large-format, double-sided fold-out flyer is from WONKA, held Saturday, November 13, 1999 in the Chicagoland area.

The lineup featured an incredible mix of electronic, house and hip-hop artists, including Digital Underground, Barbara Tucker, Johnny Vicious, Ms. Honey Dijon, Dan EFEX & Mindrive, Miles Maeda & Daemon, Halo & Hipp-E, and Benz & Jonathan.

Both sides are packed with bold, colourful artwork, artist information and event details—a wonderfully maximalist example of late-'90s rave-flyer design.

A Little Lived History:
This isn't a flyer I picked up decades later as a collectible: I personally attended this rave in 1999 and have kept the flyer ever since.

More than 25 years later, it remains a wonderfully nostalgic piece of rave, nightlife, electronic music and turn-of-the-millennium ephemera with a direct connection to the event itself.

And yes, all that wild artwork is pre-AI! This flyer comes from an era long before today's generative AI imagery, making its wonderfully over-the-top graphics, typography and visual chaos part of the late-'90s design time capsule.

Condition:
This is an original, well-travelled piece of event ephemera and it shows its age and history.

There are multiple original folds and creases, along with general handling and storage wear, edge/corner wear, and areas with adhered debris from old sticky spots. There are also some remaining sticky-tack spots/residue.

No attempt has been made to remove the adhered material or sticky-tack residue, as I did not want to risk damaging the paper or printed surface.
