Burning Man Live: 13 Years of Piss Clear – Adrian Roberts – Signed First Printing

A fascinating piece of Burning Man and Black Rock City history, Burning Man Live: 13 Years of Piss Clear collects the irreverent alternative newspaper Piss Clear, which documented life, culture, art, absurdity and controversy on the playa from 1995–2007.

Edited, produced and designed by Adrian Roberts, the book compiles the publication’s 34 issues along with additional essays and yearly introductions. Rather than a conventional history of Burning Man, this is history told through the independent, opinionated voice of people who were there—with newspaper-style layouts, photography, satire, commentary, ads, survival advice and plenty of decidedly adult humour.

This copy is a 2009 first printing and is personally signed and inscribed by Adrian Roberts: “Jennifer — See you on the playa!” along with hand-drawn symbols. The complete 10–1 number line is present on the copyright page.

And, of course, it was better last year.

Condition
Good pre-owned condition. Covers show minor shelf and handling wear consistent with age and storage. Binding appears secure and the interior pages are clean and well preserved overall.

Please note that the cracked-earth/playa appearance around the cover and spine is part of the book’s printed artwork and is not physical cracking or peeling.

The paper is relatively lightweight with a feel evocative of the newspaper material being reproduced, though it is not newsprint.

Odour is clean and book-like with a faint paper/newsprint-like quality; no offensive odour noted.
